Vol à vide :Italy: ENAV air traffic control strike set to disrupt flights on 30 September

On Wednesday 30 September 2026, Italy’s civil air navigation provider ENAV faces a nationwide four-hour air traffic control strike from 13:00 to 17:00 local time, called by Uiltrasporti. What is protected — and what is not

Italian minimum-service rules protect departures in the 07:00–10:00 and 18:00–21:00 windows; Wednesday’s walkout sits entirely outside those bands. Controllers must still handle state, emergency, rescue and overflying traffic, plus intercontinental arrivals, half of each airline’s intercontinental departures and one daily island round trip per carrier (ENAC rules summarised by AeroCorner / Trasporti-Italia). Domestic and most European flights in the strike window have no such guarantee. Knock-on delay after 17:00 is possible.

Carriers — including ITA Airways and others operating Rome, Milan and regional hubs — may cancel or retimetable afternoon sectors. Check your booking before heading to the airport; Venice Airport has already warned of delays or cancellations in that window.
