On 1–2 October 2026, Saratov Gagarin Airport faced a new wave of temporary arrival and departure restrictions linked to unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) threat alerts — distinct from the Samara / Saratov / Kaluga limits already reported for 28 September.
What travellers saw
Local outlets including Saratov News and 4vsar, citing Rosaviatsia, reported that on Thursday 1 October Gagarin stopped accepting and releasing aircraft around late morning; limits were later lifted in the afternoon (about 16:23 local per Rosaviatsia messaging). Boards showed knock-on delays on Moscow sectors, including Pobeda and Rossiya flights cited by 4vsar.
Overnight into Friday 2 October, Rosaviatsia again flagged temporary flight-safety limits from roughly 01:28. By mid-morning, Saratov News said the online board still showed delays on arrivals from Krasnoyarsk, Saint Petersburg and Moscow, with matching outbound slips, plus a delayed Saratov–Sochi departure. Regional coverage also listed knock-ons toward Norilsk. Governor alerts and Defence Ministry reporting on UAV activity over the Saratov region framed the safety backdrop; always treat MoD tallies separately from airport board times.
Passengers on Volga hub itineraries should re-check airline apps and the Gagarin board before leaving for the terminal — restrictions can lift while delays remain on the schedule.
If the schedule is critical
When a regional field opens and closes on short notice, same-day connections leave little slack. If you cannot wait for limits to lift, a private jet or empty leg into an alternate field may be workable once slots reopen. Rahizi qualifies the brief and returns partner options.
