Prepaid meter: kWh balance tracking and WhatsApp alert before shutdown

Notifyed before credit only runs out — home or business.

Thoughted and tested in Africa, designed for wherever prepaid manages the house or business. AlertEnergy follows your kWh day after day: you set the threshold, alert leaves on WhatsApp long before the credit is running out. Less mental load. More control over your energy spending.

No enclosure · Mobile app (PWA) · Mobile Money, credit card or bank account

At 2:00 in the morning, the current stops. It's not necessarily a network failure.

On one prepaid meter, the cut occurs when the credit runs out. Often at night, when no one planned to go watch the display. In paid mail, you receive invoices and reminders. In prepaid, you recharge yourself — but without follow-up, zero often arrives too late.

What the prepaid already requires

You buy credit (Mobile Money, card, point of sale...), you enter the code, you consume. The meter works. What's missing is a reliable recall when the balance is approaching zero — without having to go out to read the panel.

What AlertEnergy adds

An estimate of the balance remaining after a few days of observation, a threshold that you choose (in kWh or days ahead), and an alert on WhatsApp + push notification. For both home and business: less unexpected, clearer monitoring of energy expenditure.

Two gestures. We're taking over.

Your meter stays the way it is. Your way of anticipating changes. Registration by phone (country code) or Google — then application on the home screen.

01

Photo receipt

Photograph your refill receipt. The app reads the ticket (OCR): kWh, date, amount, type of payment. You have nothing to copy by hand.

02

A figure to enter

From time to time, type the balance displayed on the meter. Five seconds. After 2-3 days, the average consumption occurs.

03

Warning at the right time

You set the threshold (e.g. 20 kWh). As soon as it is reached — day or night — WhatsApp and push notify you. No more surprises.

Last reading + Recharges − Average daily consumption = Estimated balance

No need to be exact to the next watt: just one trend to alert you before the cut. A recent survey refines the estimate. Keep a little margin.

Your electricity company. AlertEnergy. Who does what?

AlertEnergy does not replace your operator. It completes the prepaid where the balance and recall often miss.

Need Company/operator AlertEnergy
Network info, invoices, customer space Yes — official channel No (additional, not a substitute)
Buy credit / token prepaid Yes (Mobile Money, agencies, etc.) No — you always charge at the operator
Follow the estimated daily kWh balance Often on the counter Yes — history + estimate
WhatsApp alert before exhaustion Rarely the heart of the prepaid Yes — threshold and anticipation by your hand
Home + commerce / analysis pro Under contracts Up to 3 meters, history, comparison

You pay here on reminder and follow-up service. Your electricity charges remain charged by your company.

Reload your meter — and why alert changes everything

The gesture remains yours: buy credit, enter the code, check the display. AlertEnergy does not replace this gesture. He tells you when Do it — before credit breakdown, not after.

The usual route

  • Buy a credit / token via Mobile Money, card, or authorized point of sale.
  • Enter code on the prepaid meter (depending on your operator's route).
  • Check that the kWh appear on the display.

Without follow-up, charging often happens after the cutoff — or in an emergency, at night. With a threshold (e.g. 15–20 kWh or a few days of autonomy), the reminder arrives while you can still act calmly.

For home, a business, a school, financial monitoring

Only one place to track several meters, find the history of charging and compare consumption. Useful to the individual who wants to ease the mental burden — and to the professional (commerce, school, warehouse) who wants to optimize or analyse its energy expenditure on several sites.

Your meter. In the pocket. — mobile app (PWA), Android & iPhone.

How the calculation is formed

As the founder explains: we do not need to be connected live on the meter. We observe 2-3 days, we establish a trend, then we alert before zero.

1
Photo of receipt OCR: kWh credited, amount, date, payment channel (Wave, OM, card...).
2
Survey + 2–3 days of observation The app estimates how much credit you consume on average per day.
3
Estimated continuous balance Record + recharges - estimated conso. The dashboard remains simple, voluntarily.
4
Threshold → WhatsApp + push Ex. At 20 kWh: OTP message / alert. You reload without surprise night.
Waiting for the cycle...

Already used. Already useful.

Homes and businesses already track their meter with AlertEnergy. The numbers change; the intent stays the same: fewer cutoffs “by forgetting”, more clarity on energy used.

What AlertEnergy isn't (and it's important)

We also say what we do not promise. Trust is built there.

No IoT housing

Nothing to install on the meter. No technician. Your installation remains unchanged.

Not network failures

Service anticipates exhaustion of credit. It does not prevent a general shutdown of the power grid.

No auto charging

AlertEnergy does not debit your account to charge for you. You keep your hands on the payment with your operator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Useful answers before creating an account.

Do we have to install something on the meter?

No. No enclosure, no cable and no technician. You photograph your charging receipts and enter the balance displayed on the meter from time to time.

How is the balance calculated?

After 2-3 days, AlertEnergy estimates your average daily consumption. Formula: last reading + recharges - estimated consumption. A recent survey refines the estimate. The objective is not the precision lab: it is to warn you in time.

Is the cut date correct?

It's an estimate, not a live meter measurement. A change in consumption (climate, guests, workshop) can change it. Keep a margin and update your statement.

Can I be alerted at night?

Yes, and that's what you want: the alert starts as soon as your threshold is reached, whatever the hour. A meter that runs out at two o'clock in the morning is exactly where it needs to be known — to recharge as soon as possible, safely.

How to pay subscription?

Mobile Money (Wave, Orange Money, MTN, Moov…), bank card (Visa / Mastercard) or bank account / transfer depending on the options offered at signup, per 30-day period.

How to install the app on my phone?

Android : in Chrome, menu ⋮ → “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”. iPhone : Safari → Share → « On the home screen ». It's a PWA: no need for an app store.

Is it reserved for one country?

No. The solution was designed and tested in Africa; It is addressed to all contexts where the monitoring of electricity (home or professional) is a topic — Africa, Europe, Asia, Americas, Oceania. Registration accepts international codes.

Who we are and the vision AlertEnergy

Genesis of the product, global ambition, and words of the founder.

AlertEnergy was born from a simple observation, lived in Ivory Coast by its founder, Cédric Megnassan (self-taught entrepreneur): With a pre-paid meter, you recharge yourself — but you don't always see the balance. Television's gone. Sometimes at night, when going out charging is neither simple nor safe. Hence the idea: an application that, from a receipt (or from a seizure), observes consumption over 2–3 days, estimates the average, and sends a WhatsApp (and push) alert before the credit runs out.

An African solution. A global ambition.

Thought and tested where prepaid structures the daily lives of millions of homes and businesses, AlertEnergy now wants to address everywhere where electricity management — in a personal or professional environment — is a subject: Africa, Europe, Asia, Americas, Oceania.

What we want to remove from your shoulders

The mental load "Does I have enough left?" More readable financial monitoring of your energy expenditure. And, for professionals, the possibility of compare, optimize and analyse several meters from the same account — without enclosure, without technician.
