The FAA Daily Air Traffic Report flagged thunderstorms and low clouds for <strong>BOS, JFK, LGA, EWR, Philadelphia (PHL)<\/strong> and the Washington area. Local coverage also warned of heavy rain and possible flooding in parts of New York. This is a <strong>new weather wave<\/strong> \u2014 not the <strong>13 September JFK\/LGA thunderstorm<\/strong> stops already covered.<\/p>\n<h2>What travellers saw<\/h2>\n<p>NAS Status showed rolling <strong>ground stops<\/strong> into the early afternoon at LGA and BOS (and earlier windows at JFK and EWR), then <strong>ground delay programs<\/strong> with average assigned arrival delays on the order of tens of minutes at LGA and well over an hour at EWR in midday snapshots, plus lengthy <strong>departure delays<\/strong> from weather metering and SWAP. FlightAware snapshots cited by TheTravel put delay counts in the high hundreds across JFK and LGA while cells moved through; Delta was among the carriers with dozens of delayed flights at each field. Check your carrier before leaving for the terminal: a short stop window does not clear residual bank delays.<\/p>\n<h2>If the schedule is critical<\/h2>\n<p>When JFK and LaGuardia are both held for storms, Northeast connections stack fast. If you cannot absorb another weather hold, a <a href=\"\/en\/jet-prive\/\">private jet<\/a> or <a href=\"\/en\/empty-legs\/\">empty leg<\/a> into another regional field may be workable once the cells clear.
