​DFW and Dallas Love Field: FAA ground stop as North Texas storms hit

On Thursday 1 October 2026, severe weather across North Texas led the FAA to halt departures into Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW) and Dallas Love Field (DAL). Local coverage from MySA, NBC 5 / Dallas Morning News and KSAT described a slow-moving cold front, heavy rain and thunderstorms as the operational trigger — a separate wave from earlier September weather stops at DFW.

What travellers saw

MySA reported FAA ground-stop / delay programs for traffic into DFW and Love Field, with average delays on the order of roughly 79 minutes toward DFW and about 15 minutes (and rising) toward DAL while the advisory was active. NBC 5, citing FlightAware, put DFW at more than 150 cancellations by about 7 a.m. local, with nearly 200 delays; Love Field was lighter early (about 15 cancellations and 12 delays by 7 a.m.). Coverage also noted a DFW ground stop into mid-morning and a ground-delay program extending toward evening (around 9:59 p.m. local in one FAA update, with ~78-minute average delay).
